Mr. President, we are very grateful, Sir.
The theme of this year’s conference is “Legal Practice Without Borders”. The focus of the conference is to examine the practice of law in Nigeria in an ever globalized and internationalized environment.
This is on the back of the imperative to explore new areas of legal practice and practice law within globally accepted ethical boundaries.
In particular, the Conference will x-ray the future of legal services in Nigeria and beyond, its opportunities and threats and proffer practical solutions thereto. The Conference will also examine topical issues such as exploring the frontiers of Dispute Resolution in Investment matters in Nigeria, Organ Donation and Transplantation under Nigerian law, legal practice issues on Migration and Immigration, Tyranny and Dictatorship of Election Petition, Transformation of Legal Practice in Nigeria, and a host of other inciting topics for the conference that will stimulate our interest and yet broaden our understanding in these focused areas of Law.
We have assembled an array of eminent panelists to critically examine the above topics for each of the sessions and share their knowledge with us. Other stimulating topics selected for this year’s conference will be examined by eminent faculty of distinguished jurists, legal practitioners like yourself, academia, subject matter experts, high-level government functionaries and corporate executives to share their knowledge, expertise, and experience with participants at this Conference.    We are optimistic that the knowledge shared will contribute immensely to improving our individual practices, the legal profession and justice delivery in Nigeria as a whole. This year’s conference also features the “Young Litigators Debate”. This is an opportunity for our younger colleagues to demonstrate knowledge around chosen topic.
This debate has marked out a cash prize and other exciting rewards. We invite our younger colleagues to show interest as the criteria will be rolled out by Committee.
