According to posts in many FCT Abuja residents WhatsApp groups, there is a rising incidence of stabbing across Abuja, especially within the following areas; Wuse II, Gwarimpa, Area 1, Apo Roundabout, Airport road ( from city gate all the way to gwags) Utako and Jabi.
The WhatsApp chat further reports that 3 fatalities were recorded yesterday; a lady was stabbed to death at city gate, she and her friend were attacked around 8 pm when their car broke down.
Residents are advised not to stick around their car if it breaks down on any lonely stretch of the express but “lock your car and run far away from your car then call for help, keep a very long distance from your car if you can….. run to the direction where there is light or there is human activity but monitor your surroundings before running.”
Secondly, avoid going out in the early morning for walks or runs especially before sunrise. Always make sure the sun is out and do your outdoor exercises where there is human activity; avoid lonely areas.
If you must take taxi along do so from designated bus stops.
Limit keeping late nights.
