The Chairman of the NBA Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL), John Aikpokpo-Martins paid a courtesy call on foremost human right activist, Mr. Femi Falana,SAN after his inauguration as SPIDEL Chairman. John Aikpokpo-Martins was accompanied on the visit by Kunle Edun, a member of SPIDEL Executive Committee.The SPIDEL’s Chairman sought the co-operation and partnership the human rights community to enable SPIDEL effectively champion the cause of respect for the rule of law, transparency in governance and independence of the judiciary. Mr. Falana,SAN commended the leadership of SPIDEL and assured it of his support at all times.
Mr. Falana,SAN enjoined the leadership of SPIDEL to take the fight against corruption in the judiciary and indiscipline in the legal profession very seriously because the growing indiscipline on the bench and in the bar has led to loss of confidence and trust in the judiciary, and according to the eminent lawyer, SPIDEL is best positioned to halt this negative trajectory.
