It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 2023 Annual Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) holding here in Ikeja-Lagos from Tuesday the 20th day of June, 2023 through Friday the 23 day of June, 2023, on the significant conference theme; Post-Election Nigeria: The Judiciary in the Eye of the Storm.
This year’s NBA-SPIDEL Conference literally has something for everyone, judges, lawyers and non-lawyers alike.
I am highly optimistic that the resource persons carefully selected from diverse spheres of interest will no doubt dissect and do substantial justice to the theme of this Conference.
As we all know, the 2023 elections have come and gone, the ball is now in the courts of the Judiciary, as issues bothering on the elections have been presented before the courts for adjudication. As a public interest advocacy group, the NBA-SPIDEL believes that this conference would help remind the judiciary of the serious task before her.
The Planning Committee for this year’s SPIDEL Conference of which I am privileged to lead have worked assiduously to put together a unique and innovative program of events for a truly rewarding conference experience; and by the time the Conference is over, I am upbeat that the expectations of all Conferees would have been met. Our goal is to deliver a conference experience that would be second to none in the annals of NBA Sections Conferences. 
Distinguished Conferees, this is Lagos! the center of excellence. We have lined up a couple of social events to ensure you unwind as well on the sidelines of the conference. The night life here is arguably the best in Nigeria and tourist attractions abound.
The PC have planned the sessions not to get so firing and/or overlap with social events, because we want you to have a truly refreshing conference experience. 
You must be ready to savour the warmth hospitality and conviviality that abound in Lagos. I thank in a special way, my very dependable members of the PC and the LOC for their selfless efforts at putting together this beautiful Conference. 
And on behalf of the CPC, I thank the NBA President, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN and our very amiable SPIDEL Chair, Dr Monday Onyekachi Ubani for the opportunity given to us to serve the Bar in this capacity.
