The lorry load of petitions arising from the unjust disqualification of candidates aspiring for posts in the forthcoming NBA Bwari’s election, have received a nod from the NBA President.
These petitions range from the Electoral Committee’s refusal to adhere to the zoning convention in the Branch; using loose sheets to compile voters list and determine number of meetings attended by candidates; qualifying candidates whose nominators are not as qualified as the persons they nominated; disqualifying candidates on basis of Electoral guidelines that are in conflict with the provisions of Uniform Bye-law for NBA Branches.
Responding to the petitions, Adesina Adegbite, FICMC General Secretary NBA states, “ I have the instruction of the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN to acknowledge the receipt of your letter dated 7ht day of May, 2023 and received at the National Secretariat on the 23rd day of May, 2023.
Please note that Petition oft his nature is by extant laws, mandated to be treated by the NBA Branch Elections Appeals Committee, therefore, your petition shall be forwarded to the Committee for appropriate action.
Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards.”
