CAC Workshop Unveils The Beneficial Ownership Register

The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), will today, address a World Press Conference, coupled with a workshop on the upcoming Beneficial Ownership Register.
The Press Conference will be followed on Thursday 25th with demonstration of how the Beneficial Ownership Register works.
The Beneficial Ownership Register when unveiled, will be open to the public where everyone can view records of share holders of companies online free of charge.  It’s aim at amongst others supporting anti corruption efforts in Nigeria and the world. The first session will be; Presentation Of Nigeria Case Study and Lessons Learnt.
This will be chaired by Patric Enaholo, School of Media And Communication, Pan Atlantic University, Lagos, while the Moderator is; Yop wang Pam, Senior Assistant to the Governor of Plateau State.
The discussants are;
Orji Ogbonnaya Orji, Executive Secretary, NEITI •Stephen R Davenport, Global Lead, Governance Global Practice, World Bank.
•Thom Townsend, Executive Director, Open Ownership.
•Justine Nidiya, Director of Compliance, Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) Session 2: Lessons on BO Data Collection, verification mechanisms, and sanctions in Public Procurement, will be anchored by Malovcova Luciana, Ministry of Justice, Slovakia and panel discussion is; Effective Strategies For Ensuring Optimum Collection Of High-quality Data And Optimum Use Of Available BO Data.
The panel discussants are; Wilson Banda, Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Zambia Patents and Companies Registration Agency; Thom Townsend, Open Ownership; Malovcova Luciana, Ministry of Justice, Slovakia.
Moderator for this session, is; Favour Ime, Regional Manager, Africa, Open Ownership. Session 3: The role of civil society and media in monitoring and utilizing beneficial ownership register for advocacy and investigative purposes. Lead discussant is Idriss Linge, Researcher, Francophone Africa Hub, Tax Justice Network (Benin Republic) Session 4: Addressing data privacy and security concerns in collecting and using beneficial ownership information. Lead discussant is Thom Townsend, CEO, Open Ownership.
