I, on behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association, Bwari Branch (Cradle Bar) welcome all participants to the 2023 edition of our Annual Law Week Programme. The Law Week is part of the several activities of the Branch that are geared towards promoting the continuing legal education of our members.
The theme of this year’s law week “A Vibrant Bar: A Panacea Towards Good Governance and Sustainable Development’ has been carefully chosen, to x-ray the relationship between the Bar and the development of our nation. 
As we already know, law is an instrument of socio-engineering. Thus, the Bar should stay active and vibrant, in promoting the rule of law, good governance and socio-political development of our nation. However, this has not been the reality in recent time.
Accordingly, we seek to utilize this platform to draw the attention of our colleagues; old and young, to the need to take more seriously, the socio-engineering task we owe our nation. It is my hope that this objective would be served by the 2023 Law Week Programme.
It is trite that as lawyers, the importance of staying relevant in our chosen field cannot be overemphasized.
The way to stay relevant in a vocation whose tool of trade is knowledge, is the continuous acquisition of knowledge. It is upon this premise that the Law Week Planning Committee has put together a star-studded cast of resource persons to share their knowledge and practical experiences, on several contemporary topics ranging from maritime, enforcement of judgements, probate, family law, commercial law issues and a host of others, which make up the lecture sessions for the Law Week.
I therefore, urge all participants to take advantage of the faculty present to learn, cross pollinate ideas and ask questions where necessary. I am sure, that this event will be a much talked about event, by reason of its positive impact on the participants, for a long time to come.
I am indebted with gratitude to our esteemed guest speakers, chairmen of sessions, panel members, sponsors, partners, friends and well-wishers. The sacrifices of your time, finance, intellect and other resources are deeply appreciated. We cannot pay you back, but we can pray that your noble deeds be rewarded with blessings.
Members of the 2023 Law Week Planning Committee certainly deserves great commendation. They have dedicated months, weeks and days of planning into making this year’s law week a resounding success. In doing so, they have sacrificed their time, resources and comfort, for the greater good of the Branch.
This is worthy of commendation and appreciation. Your labour is greatly appreciated and treasured. THANK YOU.
