Following the outcry against the astronomical and obnoxious nomination fees released by the Electoral Committee of NBA Bwari, the leadership of the Bar has capitulated and caused the nomination fees to be reviewed downwards.
We are reliably informed that apart from the public condemnation of the fees, some of the aspirants, wrote letter of complaint, appealing that the fees be slashed.
The nomination fees as released on 28th by the Ashu Alexander Ayuk who is the incumbent Legal Adviser and the Electoral Committee Chairman, were as follows;
Chairman: 300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira).
Vice Chairman and Secretary: N250 000 (Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
Welfare Secretary, PRO and Treasurer: N200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand Naira).
All other positions: 50,000 (Fifty Thousand Naira)
But this evening after much pressure and persuasion against the erroneous position of the Chairman Monday Ajeh Esq that nobody can overrule the Electoral Committee, the nomination fee had been reduced to;
Chairman: 150,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira).
Vice Chairman: 80,000.00 (Eighty Thousand Naira).
Secretary: 100,000.00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira).
Welfare Secretary, Publicity Secretary and Treasurer: N50,000.00 (Fifty Thousand Naira)
All other positions: 30,000 (Thirty Thousand Naira) Interested aspirants are to comply with the following; Collection of from 2nd May, 2023. Time: 9am to 4pm; Tuesday – Friday.
Deadline for Submission: 5th May, 2023.
Screening of Candidates: 6th May, 2023.
The election will take place on Saturday: 17th June, 2023.
