Men and officers of FCT Police Command, have intercepted a night luxurious bus carrying 900 ammunitions from Onitsha, Anambra State. The ammunitions were hidden inside bales of bathroom slippers.
Driver of the bus, Anthony Udeh, and the conductor, Emmanuel Onuvu, claimed the items were given to them to deliver to someone in Abuja and that they didn’t check the content of the bag.
CP Sadiq Abubakar, Commissioner of Police, property while briefing newsmen called on FCT residents, especially those on the border towns to be more vigilant and report any suspicious movement to the nearest police station.
He further warned criminal elements to avoid the FCT, as they would be adequately smoked out.
According to the statement, about 18 suspects had also been arrested for various crimes since his resumption as the new FCT police boss. Giving a breakdown of the arrests, he said on December 22, 2022, around 3.00am, operatives of the command attached to State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) arrested Ibrahim Umar, Nurudeen Yunusa, Muhammed Ahmed, Yunusa Ibrahim, Amodu Ahmed, Zakari Muhammed, Yusuf Ibrahim, Isah Labaran, Muhammed Mahammed and Salihu Suleiman, all male, for armed robbery and other heinous crimes.
