Many business owners and residents of Kubwa, has called on Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), to rescue them from the erratic power supply, that has thrown the town into prolonged bouts of darkness, for over 4 months and still darkening.
Residents who spoke to Kubwaexpress.com, lamented that they loose perishables stored in their fridges, which has now become oven and abode for cockroaches and rodents. Those living in Phase 4, said that they are only given about 8 hours supply of light and the period within which these 8 hours are given is unpredictable.

Many hoteliers and relaxation centres in Kubwa, said they rely heavily on generators to be able to provide comfort to their customers but in the face of daily rise of cost of fuel, they opine that they maybe forced out of business or increase their rates, to meet contemporary economic realities.

Residents of Kubwa on what they call Blue Line are not complaining as they boast that once the streets lights on Kubwa Express are on, they must have light.

Our investigation revealed that this Blue Line, is 33kv and with greasing of palms of AEDC staff, any Estate or cluster of houses that can afford to buy stepdown transformer will be granted access to the envy of less fortunate neighbors.

Meanwhile, AEDC attributed this erratic power supply, to the drop in power supply in its franchise areas to insufficient load allocation and it has forced it, to load shed power in many areas of FCT. In a statement on Wednesday, AEDC appealed to its customers for understanding, while it collaborates with stakeholders to ensure power supply was improved and stablised soonest.
