NBA Nyanya-Karu Crisis: Electoral Committee Meets On Friday

We are reliably in exclusive possession a notice of meeting of the 5-man Electoral Committee setup by NBA President to among other things, conduct within one month, a credible election that will put to rest, the leadership crisis that has bedeviled the branch, since its creation on June 9th 2022.

According to the Notice, signed by Ogechi Duruaku Esq. Committee Secretary, the meeting will hold on Friday 20th January, 2023 at City Law Firm.  Plot AMVE 310, Janet Duniya Street, along Apo Mechanic Village Road, by PHCN Transmission Station, Adjacent Wonderful Day School, Apo Dutse.
TIME: 4PM.
AGENDA: To identify and publish list of members of Nyanya-Karu Lawyers Forum who are eligible to vote in the newly established Branch’s election.

It will be recalled that crisis erupted immediately the announcement of the creation of the Branch was made in June 9th, during Ilorin NEC meeting, with the announcement being celebrated by two factions, with each claiming leadership of the Bar.
The factions are led by  Ichie Magnus Onwukwe and Prince Augustine Ibolo. Both were Chairmen during the Nyanya-Karu Lawyers Forum era that gave birth to the Branch.
According informed sources, Augustine Ibolo Esq was elected in September 2019 as the Forums’s Chairman for a two years Tenure which ended in September 2021, he however refused to hand over. His refusal to handover, we gathered was because he was assured by a Presidential candidate that if supports the candidate, once the Branch was created, that he will be the first Branch Chairman.
His refusal to handover waiting for the creation of the Branch, didn’t go down well with some members who voted at a meeting to dissolve their Executives and thereafter elected as its new Chairman.
