The Body of Benchers, has set aside for further consideration, the nomination of immediate past NBA, Olumide Akpata, Esq.
NBA had sent 3 nominees, including Mr. Sule Usman Ogwu SAN and Mr. Solomon Umoh SAN. These two were cleared but Olumide Akpata Esq, was not considered but NBA was asked to attach his Curriculum vitae.
Apart from the omission, sources in full knowledge of the event at pre-Call to Bar BoB meeting held last week, say that Chief Wole Olanipekun, whom NBA wants to recuse himself as BoB Chairman, due to his partner’s (Ms. Adekunbi Ogunde) allegation that his firm fixes judgment because Chief has the entire judges in Nigeria under him as BoB Chairman, is insisting that NBA must accompany Akpata’s nomination with NBA NEC resolution to that effect.
NBA NEC meeting will hold today and pundits are of the opinion that this issue will come up during NEC deliberations.
