Deborah Yakubu Murder Protest; CAN Bwari Chapter Calls For Calm

Today was billed by Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), as a day of protest against the gruesome murder of Deborah Samuel Yakubu by Islamic fundamentalists in Sokoto.

Until her murder by her co-students, Deborah Samuel Yakubu, was a 200-level Home Economics student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, in Sokoto.

At the heat of this murder and burning of her remains, CAN issues a statement, mobilizing churches, Christians and human beings of good conscience to a protest today, Sunday May 2022.

An investigation around Kubwa and Bwari, showed no protest or any spiritual wailing in the churches we visited. We further got in touch with leadership of CAN in Bwari Area Council.

Pastor Ojefu, the Chairman, Bwari Area Council, via SMS replied us thus;

Due to the fact that the FCT CAN and  BWARI Area council Chapter have not given a go ahead directives on the proposed protest, we hereby Suspend the protests and to wait for further directives from above. Let us be calm in the face of all forms of provocative/intimidating utterances .Thanks and God bless you.
From CAN BWARI CHAPTER.”
