NBA-SPIDEL Law Suit Against NYSC Claims First Victim

NYSC Is Not Allowing NLS Students To Leave Camp.
Verified information reaching Kubwaexpress, has it that NYSC, has refused to issue pass to students of Nigerian Law School, who were successful in the just released NLS Result.The screening for the Call to Bar, commences on Monday 19th to 29th of February 2024; the Call shall be on March 5, 6 and 7.
The traumatised students, have complained to the DG of Law School, soliciting that he uses his good offices, to prevail on the DG of NYSC, to grant all successful NLS students in NYSC camps all over the federation, pass to undergo screening with NLS and return back to complete the orientation.
As at press time, no response has been received from the DG NLS.

One of the successful candidates, who spoke anonymously, confined in us that she would rather be demobilised by NYSC than lose being called to Bar this year but his only fear is that NYSC may report her to NLS for absconding from camp, a conduct not fit and proper for a candidate to seeking to be called to Bar.
Reacting to this allegation of withholding of pass and recalling the one NYSC had issued to some students, a NYSC staff at NYSC Orientation Camp Kubwa, said this may be connected to the law suit filed by NBA against the management of NYSC and the management is not desirous of extending any courtesy to law students in their camp, to enable them go for their Call to Bar.You will recall that the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (SPIDEL) had via  suit number  FCH/ABJ/05/90/2024  with  the Chairman, NBA-SPIDEL, John Aikpokpo-Martins, and Secretary, NBA-SPIDEL, Funmi Adeogun as plaintiffs, urged the court to sack the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, from office for allegedly violating the National Youth Service Corps Act.
NBA-SPIDEL,  also asked the court to compel the NYSC to nullify the certificates given to Musawa and a music promoter, Kenny Ogungbe, alleging that the issuance of the certificate was contrary to the provisions of NYSC Act Cap N84.LFN 2024.
