STATEMENT BY THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION (NBA), ISIOKPO BRANCH ON THE 7TH DAY OF OCTOBER 2 0 2 4 BURNING OF IKWERRE AND EMOHUA LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL SECRETARIATS AND SHOOTING AT THE OBIO/AKPOR LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL SECRETARIAT; ALL BEING LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL SECRETARIATS IN IKWERRE ETHNIC GROUP IN RIVERS STATE WITHIN THE JURISDICTION OF NBA, ISIOKPO BRANCH.
The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Isiokpo Branch hereby condemns in its entirety the barbaric and senseless burning of Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government Council Secretariats located at Isiokpo and Emohua respectively as well as the shooting that was carried out at the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council Secretariat, Rumuodomaya on 7th day of October 2024 by persons, NBA Isiokpo Branch cannot but only describe as ignoramus hoodlums, masquerading themselves as political boys in the name of political loyalty which by our own definition is political stupidity and foolishness. 
It is regrettable that for some months now, al Local Government Council Secretariats in Rivers State have been under lock and key by the Nigeria Police Force courtesy of political crises and sooner the Secretariats were opened Monday 7th October 2024 for official business than some miscreants stormed Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government Council Secretariats, burnt some sections and office facilities of the Secretariats even as they caused some shooting at Obio/Akpor Local Government Council Secretariat, perhaps to satisfy their insatiable political masters.
NBA, Isiokpo Branch insists that the acts of these myopic political miscreants making public institutions their political victims to settle their parochial and selfish political disagreement in this 21st century is condemnable, barbaric, primitive and unacceptable. 
Public institutions being destroyed today by these myopic political miscreants were built with the tax payers’ money for the benefit of the masses and upon this destruction, will be rebuilt with same tax payers’ money thereby depriving the masses of the benefit good public social amenities such money would have been channeled to while their bourgeoisies political pay masters’ children and relatives enjoy good lives overseas.
A visit by a delegation of NBA, Isiokpo Branch led by its Chairman, Simple I. Dioha, Esq to Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government Secretariat for on the spot assessment of the damage done to bot Secretariat on Tuesday 8th October 2024 left NBA with no choice than to declare that the perpetrators of the burning are callous and irresponsible.
NBA, Isiokpo Branch therefore calls on the Nigeria Police Force and other sister security agencies to do their best, professionally and without bias, in fishing out the perpetrators of this evil attack on our Council Secretariats and make them to face the justice of their actions, irrespective of how highly placed they or, perhaps, their pay masters may be.
NBA, Isiokpo Branch equally calls on parents and guardians to call their children and wards to order and teach them the need to be good ambassadors of their homes by eschewing evil and refrain from being pushed around by selfish individuals who do not want the children of the poor to grow up with a better training that will enable them compete favourably with their overseas trained children, wards and relatives.
