POLICE BRUTALITY AGAINST MR. ISONG EUGENE (SECRETARY NBA- YLF IDEMILI): AFAM OSIGWE, SAN, CONDEMN THE INCIDENT AND CALL FOR SWIFT INVESTIGATION.
I condemn the heinous and unwarranted assault on Mr. Isong Eugene, the Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF) Idemili Branch, by a policeman attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Awka.
This egregious act of violence against a distinguished legal practitioner represents a grave violation of human rights and an affront to the rule of law.Mr. Isong’s dedication to upholding justice and serving the legal community should be met with respect and protection, not violence and intimidation.
The actions of the officer involved not only inflict physical harm but also seek to undermine the very foundations of our legal system, which relies on the principles of fairness, integrity, and respect for the law.I call for an immediate, transparent, and thorough investigation into this incident. The officer responsible must be held accountable through appropriate disciplinary and legal measures.
This assault highlights the urgent need for comprehensive police reform to prevent such incidents from recurring and to restore public confidence in our law enforcement agencies.
I stand in solidarity with Mr. Isong and all legal practitioners who face threats and violence in the course of their duties. We urge the relevant authorities to take decisive action to ensure the safety and security of citizens especially, legal professionals, who play a critical role in the administration of justice.

I demand justice for Mr. Eugene Isong and reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights of all individuals against unlawful and unjust actions. Such acts of brutality must not be tolerated, and we will continue to advocate for a legal system where the rule of law prevails and the rights of all citizens are respected and upheld.•MAZI AFAM JOSIAH OSIGWE, SAN
