The verdict of NBA Branch Elections Appeal Committee (North), dropped last night, with one of the chairmanship candidates in the forthcoming NBA Garki Election, scheduled to hold on Friday 21st, Olanrewaju Omotayo-Ojo, being disqualified.
Olanrewaju Omotayo-Ojo, in a WhatsApp message, alleged that the NBA Garki Electoral Committee that had earlier cleared him to contest, petitioned him.
He wrote, “the last few weeks have been quite engaging and a learning curve in my quest to serve our branch ( Garki branch) of the NBA. After been cleared to contest for the election, like others too, over 6 petitions( whether by motion exparte or by notice) were filed against my candidacy even by the body who earlier cleared us to contest. “
He further states, “I have decided to bury the quest to challenge the decision in the OVERALL INTEREST OF THE BAR, the Bar is greater than my aspiration and if my candidacy is to be the sacrifice to have a GARKI BRANCH exist, I take the fall and move on.” With this development, Anthony Bamidele Ojo, has emerged as unopposed Chairmanship Candidate of NBA Garki.
Also unopposed candidates are; Damilola V. Alabi Publicity Secretary and Rosemary O. Ogazi Welfare Secretary.
There are no candidates for the remaining 7 Executive Council slots of:
1. VICE CHAIRMAN
2. SECRETARY
3. ASSISTANT SECRETARY 4. TREASURER
5. FINANCIAL SECRETARAY 6. SOCIAL SECRETARY
7. PROVOST
