On May 16, 2024, African Women Lawyers Association, (AWLA) Rivers State Branch led by her Coordinator, Gloria Anuri Ohia Amb.P, MCIArb (UK), FICMC joined the world in celebrating the 2024 International Day of the Boy Child with the theme “Boys health and well-being.”
AWLA Rivers started with a sensitization tour to Stella Maris College, a secondary school attended by boys only located on Harbour Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Afterwards was the knock-out stage of a table tennis competition organised by AWLA Rivers in partnership with the Prestigious Port Harcourt Club 1928 in line with the 2024 theme.
The knock-out took place at the Civic Centre between boys in six secondary schools in Rivers State.
The finals took place on Friday 17th May 2024 at Port Harcourt Club 1928, wherein Government Comprehensive College came 1st,
Enitona High School- 2nd while Stella Maris took the 3rd position.
The school that came first went home with a gold trophy, the second and third places received certificates with additional cash gifts to all of them.
The AWLA Rivers Coordinator’s message to the boys was aired on major FM radio stations in Port Harcourt.
