Aba is the most popular city in Abia State, south east of Nigeria.
She is popularly called Enyimba City.
Aba is one of the sons Ngwa and known as Aba Ngwa. Her relations include, Isiala Ngwa, Obioma ngwa ( now obingwa, osisioma)
At the wake of creation of Abia State in 1991, Aba was balkanised into Aba North and Aba South LGAs.
Aba, is composed of many villages, including Aba-Ukwu, Eziukwu-Aba, Obuda-Aba and Umuokpoji-Aba.
Aba metropolis as defined by the Greater Aba Development Authority (GADA) comprises seven local government areas, namely Aba South, Aba North, Osisioma Ngwa, Obingwa, Ugwunagbo, Ukwa East, and Ukwa West
Aba is famous for its handicrafting, tailoring, leather works, iron fabrication and these earned her the nickname, “China of Africa.”
In 1929, Aba was the site of a revolt by Igbo women, historically known as “The Aba Women’s Riot“, which was a protest against the colonial taxation policy.
