NBA, BORI BRANCH RECEIVES CHAIRMAN OF THE NBA REMUNERATION COMMITTEE, MAZI AFAM OSIGWE, SAN, ALONGSIDE SOME NBA POLITICAL GLADIATORS IN HER MARCH 2024 MEETING
The Nigerian Bar Association, Bori Branch, held her 3rd meeting of the year on the 28th of March, 2024, at the Port Harcourt Museum along former BMH, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria, and had an August visitor in person of Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, in company of *Sammie Somiari, SAN and other NBA political gladiators.
Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, who is the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Remuneration Committee, visited the branch primarily to sensitize members of the branch on the Legal Practitioners Remuneration Order of 2023. He conversed its importance and the need for Lawyers to charge their clients according to the imports/schedule of the order.
The Learned Silk also seized the opportunity of his visit to inform the branch of his intention to contest for the office of the president in the forthcoming NBA national election.
While outlining his achievements and contributions to the Nigerian Bar and beyond, he stated that though he did not come to the branch for an official campaign, he was only consulting and seeking the approval of members of the branch, whom he believes will play key roles in the election slated later in the year.
He also commended the executive committee and members of the branch, who have continued to pilot the affairs of the branch despite the crisis that erupted the branch.
He prayed that the relative peace enjoyed so far shall continue to be permanent for the betterment of the branch. Other NBA political gladiators/aspirants in attendance include former governor of the Eastern Bar Forum, Soseipiriye Long Williams, Esq. (1st vice-presidential aspirant), former chairman, Isiokpo branch, Dr. Promise W. Iwezor JP (1st vice-presidential aspirant), former Chairman, Ilorin branch, Dr. Mobolaji Idris Ojibara (General Secretary aspirant), Bridget Edokwe, Esq. (Publicity Secretary aspirant), Ebiere E. Ekpese, Esq. (Assist. Publicity Secretary aspirant), and many others.
