GALA & AWARDS NIGHT OF THE NBA-YLF SUMMIT, 2024: STATEMENT BY THE NBA-YLF CHAIRMAN, A. T. ABOKI.
Fellow colleagues,
At the Gala & Awards Night, coming up on 18th January, 2024 as part of the NBA-YLF NATIONAL SUMMIT, we shall have the pleasure of wining and dining together as well as networking amongst ourselves.
This is indeed very exciting.
But beyond that, the Gala & Awards Night also affords us the opportunity to recognize some of our colleagues, young lawyers, who have exemplified a broad range of high legal skills, innovation, strategic vision, leadership, service to clients, the profession, and the Nigerian Bar Association in the year 2023.
Thus, the Awards presentation ceremony, which is curated by Law Awards Gala, promises to be a great convergence of the future of the Nigerian legal profession and a breeding ground that produces more change-makers in years to come.
For this year, we have lined up nine (9) categories of awards and each shall be won through your votes. These categories are:
1. Rising Star Award for Advocacy;
2. Rising Star Award for Corporate Governance & Compliance;
3. Rising Star Award in Media & Entertainment;
4. Rising Star for Human Rights & Activism;
5. Rising Star in Technology & Innovation Ecosystem;
6. YLF Branch of the Year;
7. Young Lawyer of the Year;
8. Emerging Law Firm (Sole Proprietorship), and;
9. Emerging law Firm (Partnership).
I am happy to inform you that nominations for the above categories of Awards commence today, 29th December 2023 and last until 5th January 2024. You can make use of the NBA-YLF website at https://ylf.nigerianbar.org.ng/ylf/2024-ylf-awards/ to submit your nominations.
Upon closing of nominations on 5th January 2024, nominees will be shortlisted to three (3) per category and voting will commence afterwards. I shall reach out to you on modalities of voting at the appropriate time.
Dear colleagues, young lawyers, the task of identifying those that deserve these awards lies with you. I urge you to nominate deserving young lawyers that you may know into the various categories they fit in. I also beseech you to take part in voting nominees of your choice when voting commences.
