FCT Abuja Road; Berger To Area 1 Closed 7am To 6pm

Ring road 1, also known as Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway Abuja, due to construction of Wuye-Zone 7 bridge, will be closed between the hours of 7am to 6pm daily, starting from Saturday 3rd to Sunday, 11th, December.     

The closure will also be effective during the festive period from 17th December, 2022 to 1st January, 2023.
The notice is contained in press statement issued by FDA.

The statement reads;

NOTIFICATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL MANAGEMENT ON RING ROAD 1, ALSO KNOWN AS NNAMDI AZIKIWE EXPRESSWAY    The Federal Capital Development Authority (FDA) wishes to inform the general public especially the motoring public that beginning from Saturday 3rd December, 2022 both the Main Carriageways and Service Lanes of Ring Road 1 (Popularly known as Namdi Azikiwe Expressway) will be temporarily closed to traffic coming from Berger to Area 1 Junction and vice versa to enable for on-going works on the Flyover bridge linking Wuye and Wuse 1 over Ring Road 1.
This has become necessary in order to allow Messis Arab Contractor O.A.O Nigeria Limited, the Contractor handling the Engineering Infrastructure to Wuye District to launch beams for the second span of the flyover bridge connecting Wye and Wuse Districts form Axis No. 20 to Axis No. 30 as well as the third span from Axis No. 30 to Axis No. 40 across the Main Carriageway having completed pilling, construction of pilecaps, abutment retaining walls, piers and crossbeams.
The Contractor will now be working on Saturdays and Sundays from 3rd December, 2022 to 11th December, 2022 from 7:00am to 6:00pm as well as during the festive period from 17th December, 2022 to 1st January, 2023, Accordingly, the Main Carriageways and Service Lanes around the bridge area will be closed to all vehicular traffic for safety reasons.
The motoring public is therefore advised to follow the alternative route provided by the Contractor which is the Service Lane coming towards the road diversion going to Wuse Zone 7 and Berger Round About.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have already been notined of us development.
