October the World knew he was in Bolivia but between 8-9th, the World, Socialists, Capitalists, Revolutionaries and Conservatives, were quiet with uncertainty of the whereabouts of Ernesto Chè Guevara. Where has he gone to ferment upheaval?
But Intel in Havana knows that Che was in a primary school at La Higuera, Bolivia. He and his men, were surrounded by 250 USA trained Bolivian Special Forces in Serrano.
The last entry in his Bolivian Diary was on October 7, 1967.
Between 8-9 October, he was executed; and as the man approached to shoot him he said, “I “I know you are here to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man.”
Ernesto Che Guevara died.
But Chè lives on!
After his execution, his left hand was cut off and his remains buried in an unmarked grave in Bolivia.
His hand was cut off and sent to Fidel as evidence that Chè was dead as it was inconceivable that Chè the god could be killed after being caught alive.
He was 39.
30 years after in 1997, he was exhumed and taken to Santa Clara, Cuba, where he and his comrades, were given a national heroic burial.
An eternal flame lit by Fidel Castro in his memory.
