Eastern Bar Forum (EBF), will on Saturday 8th meet in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, for her ritual quarterly meeting.
The last quarterly meeting of Eastern Bar Forum, was held on 04/06/22 in Calabar, Cross River State. This was during the electioneering process to elect new NBA Executive. As expected, the meeting was charged with political meanderings but EBF avoided the pitfall of adopting either, JG Taidi Esq, JK Gadzama SAN or YC Maikyau SAN.
Curiously, EBF failed to adopt any candidate among its members who were also contesting different positions.
Instead of Adopted Candidates, EBF released few days to election, list of Approved Candidates and all went into the election with no open support from EBF. It became free for all, especially in the contest for 2nd Vice President, that had Damian Onwubiko Nosike, Dr. Gerald Ugochukwu Abonyi Clement Chukwuma (Democrat)’s name was missing.
Despite not being on EBF Approved Candidates lis, Democrat went ahead to defeat the two candidates whose names made the list. This has set tongues wagging on how powerful is EBF in delivering any of her “approved candidate(s)”
The above has become a serious concern as NBA Presidency 2024 is zoned to South East, under the sphere of influence of EBF.
So far, according to news from bush telegraph, the following are interested;
Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN
Emeka Obegolu, SAN
Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN
Monday Ubani, Esq
Tobenna Erojikwe, Esq
Apart from the above news via radio without battery, akuko Mike Ejeagha, has it that the post of 1st Vice President, has Long Williams and 4 others EBF members, are buzzing for our attention. The Publicity Secretary, has already 4 EBF members deeply interested and has started campaigning.
Will EBF come 2024, release a list of Approved Candidates or will interests of power brokers, force EBF to adopt candidates and work against candidates she didn’t adopt?
But in this era of universal suffrage and the recent victory of Democrat, how powerful is adoption in deciding NBA Election?
Below are EBF members in the new YC Maikyau’s led Exco:
Chukwuma Clement-2nd Vice President.
Chinyere Gladys Obasi – Welfare Secretary. Daniel Kip – Assistant General Secretary.
