Nyanya-Karu plus Garki Branches of NBA, were created on the 9th of June by NBA NEC Holden at Ilorin.
This was based on recommendations on how best to solve NBA Abuja (Unity Bar) Crisis that had been on since June 2016 Benin NEC meeting.
One would’ve thought after balkanization of Unity Bar by NEC, a committee would’ve been set up to oversee the smooth take off of these new branches, conduct election where need be.
The Committee would’ve also seen to the sharing of assets among these new breakaways.
Had this been done, the crisis in Nyanya-Karu, would’ve been avoided.
The bone of contention is, who will become the pioneer chairman between Chief Magnus Onukwe and Sir Augustine Ibolo (KSM).
Furthermore, the reconciliation team sent to mediate, was accused of lack of courage and tinted with tribalism.
Apart from Nyanya-Karu, crisis will soon rock Garki on the following grounds;
There is no Garki Judicial Division known to both NBA and FCT Ministry of Justice. In the eyes of the law, NBA Garki is voidable.
Secondly those parading themselves as leaders of NBA Garki, participated in election as Unity Bar members and emerged leaders of Unity Bar and not Garki that was “created” after they had contested and won(mostly unopposed)
Had there been a Committee, the Committee would’ve conducted election and properly birth the leadership of Garki NBA. If not Election, the Committee would’ve called a General Meeting of Garki Branch, where these Unity Bar Exco would via a voice vote be ratified as pioneer Exco of NBA Garki.
The illegality of NBA Garki, I am informed, would be cured by the CJ of the FCT, during his speech at the opening of 2023-2024 Legal Year but until then, NBA Garki Branch, is an illegal, unknown entity and at best, can be called Garki Lawyers Forum.
