The entire members of National Election Appeals Committee of the NBA, has resigned order to pave the way for NBA President to constitute a new National Election Appeals Committee in which Chief J. K. Gadzama SAN, would have enough confidence to ventilate his grievances against the conduct of the recently-concluded elections.”
Their mass resignation was because of a petition signed Messrs Chukwudi Oli and O. E. Oluwabiyi, the Director-General and Admin Officer for JK Gadzama SAN’s Campaign team, doubted their neutrality, accusing some of them of being supporters of YC Maikyau SAN, the winner of the NBA presidential Election.
JK Gadzama SAN is protesting the outcome of that election and his appeal to ECNBA, was not upheld and he refused to move up to the Appeal Committee, citing bias, and expressed fears that he will not get fair hearing in a committee made up of supporters of YC Maikyau SAN.
In a letter to NBA President dated 30th July, the members wrote; “Regrettably, we the members of the NBA-NEAC have taken the collective decision to resign our appointment in order to pave the way for you to constitute a new National Election Appeals Committee in which Chief J. K. Gadzama SAN would have enough confidence to ventilate his grievances against the conduct of the recently-concluded elections.”
The letter was signed by Mrs. Funmi Roberts (Chairperson), Austin Ajineh (Secretary), Huwaila Mohammed Ibrahim, Okey Ohagba, Dr. Rosemary Chinelo Chikwendu, Hubert Nwoye, Stephen Obajaja, Mathew Egbadon and Grace Selre Mamswa.
According to the signatories, it is “most unfortunate and underserving the mischaracterization ascribed to some members of the Committee.”
