Bwari Branch is a very important branch of the Nigerian Bar Association with a long history, which serves as the immediate community of the Headquarters of the Nigerian Law School. By its position, the branch is the community of lawyers which gives so many of our learning colleagues a first contact with the law.
I have had the privilege of interacting with the members and EXCOS of this branch and I am convinced that the branch is doing wonderfully well in this regard and beyond, and is deserving of its name,”the Cradle Bar”
I found the choice of the theme of this year’s law week, “The State of the Nation: Where are the Lawyers”, exceptionally intelligent. Indeed, the law is an instrument for societal development and lawyers are the drivers of such wonderful instrument.
What better time shall we have to discuss this wonderful theme than now; when our country is facing a general election in few months to come? What better time do we have than now; to discuss about our societal challenges such as gender based violence; our security, unity, and all challenges against our national prosperity?
The theme of the 2022 Law Week is in line with our agenda to complement our predecessors and create a dynamic and engaging bar that works for all.
I thank the Executive Council and members of the Cradle Bar for their constant support as we chart a course towards realizing a dynamic bar that we all deserve.
Wishing you a successful deliberation.
