As our Muslim colleagues join other faithfuls all over the world to pray today, I Felix Chukwuma Ashimole, appeal to them, to pray for peace in Nigeria.
The past week, has witnessed high rate of bloodletting; Deborah Yakubu in Sokoto, Okada violence in Lagos, burning of Dei-Dei market in Abuja, Unknown Gunmen menace in the South East.
I pray that, as you make your supplications today, may you spare a thought for Nigeria and reflect on the words of Shakespeare, “The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, / But in ourselves’”
We alone, can birth a new peaceful Nigeria and not any alien or extraterrestrial powers. Let us learn to live together, respect one another and above all, subject ourselves to the supremacy of the Nigerian Constitution.
