Lawyer Laments Incompetency In CAC Calls On The RG To Resign

A lawyer who applied to the Registrar of Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has approached us with lamentation of how the incompetence in CAC, is affecting his earning and making him look incompetent and unserious before his client.
According to the lawyer, he approached CAC, paid the prescribed fees, got RG’s Consent, also got Non Objection Letter From Nigerian Diaspora Commission to register an Incorporated Trustee for some Nigerians who want to give back to their community.
To his dismay and disappointment, after paying filing fee and waited for two weeks, he opened his portal to be rudely greeted by a notice of denial by a staff of CAC, asking that he pay extra N5,000 and change the name. A name that the RG had approved. He queried if a junior staff has the authority to override the RG?
Below is a copy of the letter he sent to the office of the RG of CAC, asking him to relinquish the duties of granting consent if he is so incompetent that a junior staff will have the temerity to overrule him.

RE: REFUSAL TO REGISTER AN IT AFTER RG HAD COLLECTED FEE FOR RG CONSENT AND APPROVED THE NAME.
INCOMPETENCE OF THE RG OFFICE

With ought most disgust and displeasure, I received the news that one of your staff, queried an incorporate trustee application I made.

The said Staff requested that we remove ‘Organization’ and substitute it with either Association or Foundation.
This to say the least, is professional incompetence on the part of your organization.
We had applied to the RG, the highest most competent staff of the Commission, got approval, proceeded to do Newspaper Publication, paid for filing and while awaiting certificate, we received this rude news.
Are we to believe that the office of the RG does not know its job when it approved the name?
Furthermore, we feel robbed that your commission is requesting that we pay another N5,000 (Five Thousand Naira), to effect the inclusion of either Association or Foundation to a name already approved.
Our Client based on your approval, had commenced making use of the name merely, awaiting IT number.

We are reapplying in protest and wish to state that this behavior is against the policy of ease of doing business and a deliberate ploy to keep off Nigerians of their hard earned money.

We pray that this late minute query/denial will stop and if the RG’s office is incompetent to grant approval, let it be relieved of such responsibility.

Thanks.
Mr. Michael Akuazaoku.
