An Kaduna bound train originating from Idu through Kubwa train station to Kaduna, was on Monday, attacked by persons suspected to be terrorists. The attack took place between Asham and Kubwa.
One Anas Iro-Danmusa, who claimed he is a passenger. took to Facebook to solicit for prayers;
He kept updating development until his final post thanking God that the Nigerian Army has rescued them.,”
Daily Nigerian reported that 970 passengers were onboard the train. “All the passengers are currently lying on the floor of the train. The bandits are shooting sporadically. We are in serious danger,” a passenger told Daily Nigerian.
When the Kaduna police command spokesman, Mohammed Jalige, did not respond to calls and SMS sent to him on the attack.
But Pascal Nnorli, Kaduna-Abuja train service manager, denied the attack and said, “Some children threw stones and broke the windscreen of our locomotive.”
He further stated that the online report that the train was attacked by terrorists or bandits is false.
“The attention of Nigerian Railway Corporation has been drawn to fake online news that the KA4 train from Kaduna to Abuja was attacked this afternoon by armed bandits between Asham and Kubwa” he said.
Daily Trust reports that an one passenger, who identified himself as Alhaji Nura, told its correspondent that: “What really happened was that on our last approach to Kubwa Station, some small boys on the bridge threw stones and broke the windscreen on the driver side of the train. The train stopped and all the policemen on board went out after the hoodlums.
This is the second time in less than three years that KA4 train from Kaduna to Abuja is being attacked while approaching Kubwa. The first time was in September 2020 and NRC blamed hoodlums
